Aurora Renewables announces new Power Grids division led by Michael Rogers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Today, Aurora Renewables, a First Nation clean energy service provider owned by Des Nedhe Group (Des Nedhe) and Extropic Energy, are announcing the launch of Power Grids, a new division offering powerline infrastructure for microgrids led by SaskPower’s former Manager of Indigenous Relations, Michael Rogers.

Rogers will head the division as Manager of Power Grids, bringing his more than 18 years of industry experience into the role. As a journeyman powerline technician, Rogers has spent his career in various high-level positions, from construction maintenance planner to district operator, and most recently Manager of Indigenous Relations at SaskPower. His hands-on experience, impressive qualifications, coupled with his knowledge of working in the Indigenous space, will be critical to ensuring the success of the Power Grids division and in meeting the company’s commitment to drive Indigenous leadership in the renewable energy sector.

The Power Grids division strengthens Aurora Renewables position in the clean energy sector and is a significant step forward in the company’s journey to becoming a complete service provider for renewable microgrids. The new division improves upon Aurora Renewables existing list of holistic service offerings available to improve the efficiency of microgrids. By offering infrastructure construction of medium-to-high voltage powerlines and by demonstrating the company’s capability of building its own power grids across Canada, Aurora Renewables is expanding its solutions and strengthening its position as a future leader in the renewable energy sector.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Mike to Aurora Renewables as we launch our Power Grids Division—an essential step toward our vision of becoming a holistic clean energy service provider. With exceptional experience and deep industry knowledge, Mike is the ideal leader to grow our powerline capabilities. Under his leadership, we’re confident this division will create a meaningful, positive impact in Saskatchewan and the communities we serve.”
– Jonathan Palmer, Vice-President, Aurora Renewables

“I’m honoured to be stepping into such an important and impactful position at a time when discussions around renewable energy initiatives and Indigenous energy sovereignty are merging. Having worked in both spaces and dedicated my career to powerline infrastructure, I’m excited to be joining an Indigenous-owned renewable energy company and to bring my skillset to the new Power Grid team to help us make unprecedented impacts in the sector.”
– Michael Rogers, Manager, Aurora Renewables
