Aurora Renewables Leads Indigenous-Led Smart Microgrid Project in Northern Saskatchewan
Aurora Renewables is proud to lead a groundbreaking Indigenous-led smart microgrid project that will bring clean, reliable power to the La Plonge and Poplar House District communities in northern Saskatchewan. Supported by an investment of over $1.9 million from the Government of Canada, this initiative is being developed in partnership with English River First Nation and Des Nedhe Group.
The project combines solar energy, battery storage, and advanced digital twin technology to create a resilient, sustainable energy system that supports community energy sovereignty and reduces emissions. This milestone reflects Aurora and the Government’s commitment to driving innovation, sustainability, and Indigenous partnership, shaping a cleaner, more connected energy future across Canada.
