Construction Manager, Renewables - Saskatoon, SK
This is a hands-on, field-based role. The Construction Manager is expected to be on-site daily, directly coordinating crews, resolving issues in real time, and actively driving construction progress. This position functions as a working foreman in many respects, combining project leadership with practical, on-the-ground execution.
 The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering renewable energy construction projects from inception through commissioning. The role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within scope and budget, and to a high standard of quality and compliance.
 Key Responsibilities:
- Lead construction activities in the field, providing day-to-day direction to crews, subcontractors, and site staff
- Actively manage site operations, sequencing work, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining momentum on construction progress
- Coordinate closely with project stakeholders including clients, engineers, and subcontractors to align design intent with field execution
- Develop and maintain project schedules, adjusting in real time based on site conditions and constraints
- Monitor project costs, track productivity, and manage budgets with a strong focus on cost control
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards through active site presence and leadership
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to plans and specifications
- Review and manage contracts, change orders, and field documentation
- Identify project risks early and implement practical mitigation strategies on site
- Supervise, mentor, and support field personnel, fostering a disciplined and accountable work environment
- Prepare concise progress updates for internal and external stakeholdersÂ
Role Profile:
- High field presence required;Â
- Comfortable working in active construction environments and leading crews directly
- Strong practical understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and site logistics
- Ability to move between strategic oversight and hands-on problem solving without friction
Compensation: $55-$70/hr (depending on qualifications & experience), overtime at 1.5x, LOA when applicable on remote jobs (outside Saskatoon)
 Required Qualifications:
- Red Seal Electrician certification (required)
- Valid First Aid certification
- Demonstrated commitment to Leadership in Safety Excellence (LSE) or equivalent safety leadership programs
- Successful completion of a criminal record check
- Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol (D&A) testing as required for site access
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with project management tools, scheduling software, and standard office applications
- Strong hands-on construction experience, ideally in renewable energy or electrical infrastructure projects
- Proven ability to lead crews in the field and manage active construction sites
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, construction sequencing, and site logistics
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
 Work Schedule and Conditions:
- This role is primarily field-based and requires flexibility to align with construction schedules
- Saskatoon-based projects typically follow a 5 days/week, 8 hours/day schedule
- Remote project sites require extended shifts of approximately 11 hours/day, with rotations of up to 12 consecutive days
- Willingness to travel and work in remote locations is required
